I recently purchased the watch and the first noticeable feature was its XXL size. Even on a big wrist it may appear somewhat oversized but despite this, every design detail makes it look and feel good. Overall, it feels solid and nicely built. I expected for a watch like this to be made in Japan (movement & case entirely made in Japan) rather than "Japan Movt" (only movement made in Japan, while assembled and cased elsewhere), but surprisingly none in the whole series is, whether you spend 0 or 0 (this is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5). Its large, black dial with luminescent hour marks and hands makes it easy to read under any lighting situation, including underwater; furthermore if exposed to light during the day it glows the whole night. I opted for this specific model as I have been using another Eco-Drive, the Citizen Aqualand BJ2054-51E for the last 4 years and although I loved it I have always been bothered by its excessively busy dial. With this new one, I was looking for simplicity, sturdiness and reliability and so far I'm pleased with my choice. For divers, the carbon fiber bezel offers a nice grip, even with gloves on, which is always a feature to be appreciated. The mineral crystal glass is truly non-reflective and it feels solid but its flush mount with the case makes it somewhat prone to be accidentally hit (and eventually scratched/chipped). I didn't own it long enough to be able to submit a comprehensive accuracy test result but it seems to amaze me with a mere 1 second deviation in 5-6 days, which would result in a remarkable accuracy of only 5-6 seconds deviation per month. The screw-down crown seems to be better built than the previous models as the date adjustment can now be performed without accidentally stopping the watch when actually this was not intended (date adjustment is performed by pulling the crown one notch, while time adjustment requires pulling the crown further, to the second notch). The stainless steel bracelet looks and feels solid and is easily adjustable for various wrist sizes by removing as many links as needed. The expandable clasp sounds like a nice feature for divers but unfortunately it just doesn't extend long enough to allow the watch to be worn over a 7mm wet suit if the bracelet was previously adjusted to snugly fit the owner's writs. The date placed at 3 o'clock doesn't have magnifying glass but, personally I like it this way. Overall a nice watch and with prices expected to go down in the near future it truly makes a very good option for a diver's watch, as well as a day-to-day sport watch.

A final advice: go see it before you buy it - the pictures are deceiving about the size; it's BIG.

NIce watch
I purchased this watch about 3 weeks ago. Had given my wife a Citizen Eco-Drive about 3 years ago and has been a wonderful and reliable watch. I have been looking to get a Citizen Eco-Drive Dive watch (I'm a scuba diver) for my self and this one finally came down to a price I could live with. This is a very well constructed watch. But beware this watch has some serious size and weight to it. I own two Invicta Dive watch's I bought about 8 years ago and they are OK watch's but they don't come close to the quality of the Citizen. Good Watch for a Good Price.

Great Watch
Awesome watch. LED light is really cool. Have had it for a few months now and no problems or major scratches.

Great, but with one minor flaw
Let me start by saying I love this watch. It's one of the nicest looking sports watches I've seen, and far more elegant looking in person than in the online pictures. Plus, it's easy to set and use and accomplishes (nearly) all the features I want and need in a sports watch.

However, one thing I use constantly is a countdown timer for various exercises. While this watch has a countdown timer, it can only be set in 1-minute increments. So, if you want to time an activity for 30 seconds, or 2 minutes 15 seconds, or whatever, you can't do it with this watch.

I like the watch otherwise too much to return it, but this countdown timer limitation is, to me, a rather serious design flaw that could have and should have been easily corrected by Casio.

The watch is as listed but the band is very short, almost too short to fit. I am not a huge person but I have to use the last hole when on. Needs to be longer

Love my Casio
Bought this watch about a month ago and haven't taken it off for nothing, except showering and sleeping. Only bad thing is that it doesn't have a light. But hey, who needs to know the time in a pitch black (dark) room anyway..? Oh and the alarm isn't very loud, plus it doesn't have snooze or repeat or any fancy options, so if you need the alarm, get an alarm clock. And now I'm the calculator for friends.. hehe.. how much tip should I leave? How much tax will I have to pay? What's the exchange rate? What is 25 + 60 + 32 + 12 + 7%.. divided by 3..? I got it! The watch looks incredible, fits perfectly and everyone loves it, makes me feel like a hot geek.. sweet!! If you don't have a Casio calculator watch yet then just stop reading and get this one or the one with the light if you feel like you really need it -- in the end the light is not essential. Hope Casio never stops making this one. I've been a fan of this model since it came out in the 80's.

Alarm is very faint
My old 53W from about 1995, made in Korea, had a much louder alarm. This one goes off and I sometimes don't hear it. Casio is manufacturing this in CHINA --another very good reason not to buy it. If I have a choice I don't buy anything made

a watch that does it all
I have worn this Casio watch model CA53W for 15 or more years. Over those past years I have replaced it a couple times. I find it has given me good service with little or no problems. I replaced a band once and had the battery replaced a couple of times. It is hard to find this model here where I live in Fla. I was pleased that I could find a replacement at Amazon.com. I now have two of these Casio watches. It is a watch that I choose to ware everyday.

excellent watch
Excellent watch. I like it so much that I bought second one after I lost my first one.

Worth It
Watch was smaller than expected in a good way. I've also found it to be very water resistant so I can wear it into the shower without a problem. Very pleased with it.

Only downside is that the buttons are small and the modes are the the most intuitive to figure out.

UPS Sucks Late delivey became the gift that nevers deliver!
I am very upset, the item is as described, I am upset that I bother to pay the extra in order to have the dam watch delivered to me a day prior my trip. The UPS did sent me an email confirming that they will deliver the watch that day. Then again I waited the whole day at home for a freaking watch that never came. The Dam UPS was a nasty service, I wish I could leave this feedback on their spot instead. Fedex seems more reliable. After I came back from my vacation I received the watch, the UPS delivered days after. I wonder what was the point of me paying extra for??????? There was not point since UPS did not deliver it on time!!!! So upset!!!I did not get to deliver the gift oversea. UPS sucks!

great cheap watch
I've had 4 or 5 of these over the years. I'm very tough on watches and it makes no sense to buy an expensive watch. This watch looks great, has nice functions (stopwatch) and I don't worry if I bang it on a tree or get it caught on something in a car engine. I also keep it accurate to the second. It loses a few seconds a month, but it's no big deal to reset it. The only down side is that after a couple of years of wear/tear, the function buttons tends to not want to work. Kind of telling me it's time to get a new one.

A personal favorite
I very much like this family of Casio watches. I like the digital time and other features as well as being a little upscale from the black plastic models. They don't last forever. The usual failure is that their buttons stop working (even if opened and cleaned a few times), but that takes some years. I've also had them get badly scratched and worn. Glad to find them on Amazon as my usual store sources no longer stock them

Better than a Rolex
Can't beat this with a stick. Battery lasts forever. I have dove with this watch more than 100ft. on more than one occasion. Less trouble than my Rolex and keeps better time.

They skimped on the band
Chinese-made digital Casio, chrome face, mineral crystal, stainless back, stainless adjustable band, day + date (no month), 12hr/24hr, alarm, chrono/split. Really bright blue backlight, ie. "electro luminescence", egaged by pushing the Light button.
You can't compare an watch to your 0 citizen, but I give the watch itself a 5, because I think it's got a cool unique face, and is functional - in a retro, circa 1985 way.
I took off 1 star because of the band, which actually looks nice from the outside - but the underside is a little rough, has unfinished edges, and catches arm hair easily. I used 400 grit sandpaper to smooth the edges, and it's much more comfortable now. They obviously save money by not hand finishing these bands.

Nice watch
I already own the brown Casio Forester and like it. Bought this to have the black version.

As expected
Had this watch several weeks. Looks nice with a military appearance. Easy to read dial. Mine's going to run fast a few seconds a month but that is to be expected and within stated parameters. I actually carry it in my pocket so i wanted analog as opposed to digital because the digitals seem to get unintentionally adjusted in my pocket. I rate it a 5 because it's exactly as expected.

It is not a perpetual calendar so you will need to move the date forward on short months. You'll need digital to get perpetual calendar and i'm not even sure all digitals are perpetual.

Outstanding buy
I found this watch to be an outstanding value. I always enjoy getting maximum value for my money. As a senior citizen on fixed income this is important. This watch looks good, is very readable and with the velcro band is as comfortable as an expansion band. Had tried a G-shock but found it too big/cumbersome. The Forester model by Casio is a best-buy in my opinion.

decent watch, disposable band
The watch is of good quality, keeps time well, and keeps functioning despite my abuse to it.

However, the band will "skunk" like a gym sock after a few weeks. I have had three of these watches, and the original bands last about 3 months.

The watches are pretty good if you are willing to invest the time to replace the bands with plastic or rubber replacement straps.

I bought a 4$ rubber strap to replace the cloth when it fails, and the rubber strap will last about a year...

Long-lasting and rugged
I received this watch as a Christmas present in 2004. The time of this writing is September 2007, and the watch is not only still running, it has the original battery! I've never had a watch that lasted this long on one battery. It has also survived without any major scratches or any other damage, despite the fact I wear it constantly while working in a warehouse. Easy to read, as well. A good, comfortable, rugged watch.

EDIT: Two years after I wrote this review, and this watch is STILL running with the original battery. Unbelievable!
